	Pape Siriman Kanoute Miriya, (thoughts)
The tradition of the storyteller in Senegal is alive in the music of Pape Siriman Kanouté. "MIRIYA" his latest CD was recorded in Rome, Italy and Senegal. Pape sings that warm Mandingo soul and plays his sweet sax surrounded by a group of female singers in a call and response that recounts the memory of their people. Pape is the storyteller, the "word master", the nomad musician who brings joy to the villages, passing down the cultural and oral traditions of Senegal, adding along the way influences of other cultures. This CD is a great introduction to the Griot Mandinga sound.
