Born in Seattle. Raised in Washington,
Alaska, California, Utah. Moved to Auckland
in 1976 with a BFA from the University of
Washington. In 1998, Clay’s last solo
exhibition employed ‘old mediums’
eg, hand drawing and painting with acrylic
and oil paints, wax pencils etc. Then an investigation
of computers, scanners and photo manipulation
software resulted in these tools becoming
part of his composing and rendering process.
Bodvin’s old skills and practices mixing
with new ways and means. Just maybe, the best
of both worlds.

i'm interested in pictures that deal with
metaphysical, emotional realities; worlds behind
and mixed with the appearance of the everyday.
The realms of nature, space, childhood, these
can all be a doorway into these compelling worlds.
i work with collage, xerox, silkscreen, and
the computer.
