BEST OF SHOW / FIRST Place Award Winner / Ann Bodan, "Hands"

JURY COMMENT: Ann Bodan's still life work, apparently undisturbed by computer manipulation, are small theatres for dreams and memory. Their meanings are, of course, open to interpretation. But the works we saw are not about meaning. They are about sensations and associations, with a reverence for the miniscule and the light that reveals their hidden substance. The image of glowing plastic hands perched on their wooden base against black, is nothing profound, but still captivating and remains impressed in the mind as an homage to the insignificant.
