FIRST Place Award Winner - Ann Bodan
I have always loved art in all forms and as a child I aspired
to someday become a painter. Unfortunately, I was not gifted
with the ability to draw so I had to turn my attentions
elsewhere. My love affair with photography began when I
was 14.
I was deeply fascinated with the way one could capture the
world, as it exists in one particular moment on film. After
graduating high school, I decided to pursue my love of photography
in college, earning a Diploma in Commercial Photography
from Gwinnett Technical College in Atlanta, Georgia. I spent
two years working as an assistant in a commercial studio
and as a staff photographer in a portrait studio, but I
just wasn’t satisfied with my career. I decided to
refocus my efforts on the work that I have always wanted
to do…fine art still life.
The works for Hans Neleman and Salvador Dali are by far
my favorite. I love how they express their feelings through
surreal settings or unusual objects. In my own art, I strive
to translate emotion in a similar manner through still life
photography
