JURY COMMENT : We liked Richmond's juxtaposition of gestural red squares. Although these oils are rather small in scale, they do have a certain power as flaming fragments that have been reunited to vibrate in new ways. His choice to title his work with numbers instead of giving associations, is in keeping with his purely abstract research.
