EPD – Environmental footprints (test)

ARTROM STEEL TUBES SA, one of the leading producers of industrial pipes integrated with its own steel production in Europe, announces to its customers, suppliers, and all interested stakeholders that, starting from July 2024, it will be using 100% certified green energy as a result of contracts signed with a major electricity provider in Romania. This step is an integral part of ARTROM‘s sustainability strategy and transformation plan aimed at reducing CO2 emissions.

ARTROM STEEL TUBES SA produces steel for the production of pipes using the least emissive process, namely the recycling of ferrous scrap in an Electric Arc Furnace (EAF). The use of 100% renewable, carbon-free energy will lead to a 42% reduction in the average level of direct and indirect carbon emissions (Scope 1 and 2) for the entire production flow, from scrap to finished pipes.

Given the company’s strong commitment to prioritizing sustainability in its operations and reducing its environmental impact, ARTROM STEEL TUBES SA aims, for at least the next few years, to secure 100% green energy with guaranteed origin through long-term agreements (PPAs) rather than investing in its own renewable energy production capacities. This will allow the company to allocate its full financial resources toward projects aimed at modernizing production processes ,improving energy efficiency and reducing the emissions.

We assure all our customers that we are continuously working to improve the performance of our steel and seamless tube production processes to reduce emissions, including carbon emissions. The results of our efforts to reduce emissions for each of our products are reflected uniformly in the carbon footprint of the entire production process across any technological flow where improvements have been made, ensuring that all customers benefit equally from the emission reductions achieved.
